Can’t someone just carry away my ebike or scooter?

Yes, if you use ONLY the Scoot-Boot and the thief doesn’t mind a screaming alarm that advertises the theft.  In high-risk areas, we recommend tethering your bike or scooter with a cable or U-lock in addition to the Scoot-Boot.  Experts recommend multi-layer protection, and the Scoot-Boot adds two more layers

Will it defeat an angle grinder?

No lock is grinder-proof, and a grinder disc costs about $5, so cut-resistance was never the game. The Scoot-Boot wins a different way. The moment a thief touches it, a 118 dB alarm makes finishing the job quietly impossible. It takes away their privacy and turns the attempt into a public scene. They move on.

How does the Scoot-Boot deter theft?

The Scoot-Boot looks and sounds tough. Potential thieves just pass on to an easier target because they don’t want to draw attention to a theft attempt.  A $260 U-lock will slow down an angle grinder attack, but then the lock needs replacement.

How loud is the alarm, really?

Do I still need a U-lock or chain?
